At loooong last we have finally begun to enjoy some cooler weather in my neck of the woods – save for the past few days which have been back up in the high 80’s/low 90’s. But I can forgive these recent hot days because I know that has *got* to be the very last of the hot weather for a long time. Not to mention all the pretty colors of the trees which are none the wiser to it being too hot for Fall.
So, now that I’m back at the torch I have a new collection of beads to share:
Long time, no beads!
It has been one long, hot summer here in L.A. – and unfortunately, for us, it’s not over yet. In fact, we’ll get many more 100+ degree days until October or so.
Because of the heat, and because I just needed a break, I have been on a beadmaking hiatus. But, I have been inspired to get back to the torch lately so I was very lucky to catch a tolerably warm morning and make some new beads!

My obsession – going strong… 😀 You’d think after a year and a half of being consumed with making encased murrini beads I’d be tired of them by now. But no – there are so many endless design possibilities that I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of this style bead. Occasionally I do venture out and do different things, but I always seem to come back to these. What’s a girl to do? 😉
Remember that Dunkin Donuts commercial years ago where the baker begrudgingly murmurs in the wee hours of the morning, “time to make the donuts”? Well for me it was “time to make more murrini” since my Etsy shop was getting low on stock.
But of course I am not at all begrudged (is that a word?) about it like that guy was. In fact, just the opposite. Lately I have been bursting with lots of color combination ideas for new murrini designs. If only I had more time at the torch!

When not consumed with making encased murrini beads over the past year, I’ve been working to perfect my pulled dot beads. Thanks to a new tutorial I recently purchased I have ‘connected the dots’ (ha! :D), had a light bulb moment, and at last this technique finally clicked for me. Now, I have a new obsession… 😉
