Crazy For Dots – Lampwork Glass Beads

When not consumed with making encased murrini beads over the past year, I’ve been working to perfect my pulled dot beads. Thanks to a new tutorial I recently purchased I have ‘connected the dots’ (ha! :D), had a light bulb moment, and at last this technique finally clicked for me. Now, I have a new obsession… 😉

Assorted Glass Bead Collections

It’s been a while since I’ve sat down and made coordinating sets of beads. But I recently received an order of pretty colored glass frit blends and they inspired me to make several beads that all go together. 😀

These sets are now available on Etsy:

Encased Murrini Glass Bead Necklaces

I was lucky to catch a cool day (relatively speaking) earlier in the week so I was able to make several beads for these new Gazing Ball necklaces:

All Hallow’s Eve – glass bead necklace
Dockweiler Pier – glass bead necklace
Halloween Spooktacular – glass bead necklace
Malibu Pier – glass bead necklace
Sock Hop – glass bead necklace

This will probably be it from me for at least a week since we’re going into another heat wave – although I don’t feel like we’ve ever come out of one. It’s supposed to get extra hot over the next several days :-\

I’m really hoping for a long, cool winter this year!

Fabulous Glass Florals

Introducing a new bead series featuring floral designs with a hand-painted look in glass!

These designs take me back to my acrylic painting days. Using my own hand pulled encased stringers I carefully ‘paint’ the entire floral design petal by petal, leaf by leaf, onto the surface of the bead. It’s a painstaking process but I love the intricate and detailed results.

Here are the first few designs I’ve done:

California Poppy – set of 9 handmade beads
Purple Daisy – lentil focal bead
Marigold – lentil focal bead

New Drop Pendant & Gazing Ball Necklaces

Life is getting busy again with the new school year approaching. But you wouldn’t know Summer is coming to an end with the way this heat wave is dragging on. We just try staying indoors in the air conditioning most of the time, and count down the days till Fall arrives (which for us usually isn’t until mid-October).

In the meantime, here are some beads I managed to make one cool morning before my studio reached unbearable temperatures:
