Though I love a good storm, and we definitely needed the rain, this storm brought with it chilly temperatures I thought we’d seen the last of a couple months ago. So I was inspired to make these beads which all reminded me of the warmer weather to come. 🙂
I was lucky to catch a cool day (relatively speaking) earlier in the week so I was able to make several beads for these new Gazing Ball necklaces:
All Hallow’s Eve – glass bead necklaceDockweiler Pier – glass bead necklaceHalloween Spooktacular – glass bead necklaceMalibu Pier – glass bead necklaceSock Hop – glass bead necklace
This will probably be it from me for at least a week since we’re going into another heat wave – although I don’t feel like we’ve ever come out of one. It’s supposed to get extra hot over the next several days :-\
I’m really hoping for a long, cool winter this year!
Introducing a new bead series featuring floral designs with a hand-painted look in glass!
These designs take me back to my acrylic painting days. Using my own hand pulled encased stringers I carefully ‘paint’ the entire floral design petal by petal, leaf by leaf, onto the surface of the bead. It’s a painstaking process but I love the intricate and detailed results.
Here are the first few designs I’ve done:
California Poppy – set of 9 handmade beadsPurple Daisy – lentil focal beadMarigold – lentil focal bead
Life is getting busy again with the new school year approaching. But you wouldn’t know Summer is coming to an end with the way this heat wave is dragging on. We just try staying indoors in the air conditioning most of the time, and count down the days till Fall arrives (which for us usually isn’t until mid-October).
In the meantime, here are some beads I managed to make one cool morning before my studio reached unbearable temperatures:
Sea Flowers – petite gazing ball pendantKaleidoscope – gazing ball pendantBouquet – gazing ball pendantAzalea – drop pendant necklace
As soon as these beads came out of the kiln I knew exactly what they should be named – Mardi Gras! This week’s beads include my new encased florals which I am having so much fun making. I used rich colors of amethyst, burnt orange, and yellow ochre glass with touches of soft green.
