Murrini Application on White Glass Video

Here’s another YouTube video I made while testing murrini. Whenever I make murrini I always test it on white glass to see a true representation of the colors. Also it helps me to see how the murrini behaves in the flame and when applied.

Here are some pictures of the murrini I used during the video after kiln annealing –

There is no speaking or teaching in this video, it is just a demonstration for entertainment purposes only.*

New Handmade Glass Murrini Chips

Remember that Dunkin Donuts commercial years ago where the baker begrudgingly murmurs in the wee hours of the morning, “time to make the donuts”? Well for me it was “time to make more murrini” since my Etsy shop was getting low on stock.

But of course I am not at all begrudged (is that a word?) about it like that guy was. In fact, just the opposite. Lately I have been bursting with lots of color combination ideas for new murrini designs. If only I had more time at the torch!

Here are a few new murrini designs just added to my Etsy shop this week:

Encased Murrini Glass Bead Necklaces

I was lucky to catch a cool day (relatively speaking) earlier in the week so I was able to make several beads for these new Gazing Ball necklaces:

All Hallow’s Eve – glass bead necklace
Dockweiler Pier – glass bead necklace
Halloween Spooktacular – glass bead necklace
Malibu Pier – glass bead necklace
Sock Hop – glass bead necklace

This will probably be it from me for at least a week since we’re going into another heat wave – although I don’t feel like we’ve ever come out of one. It’s supposed to get extra hot over the next several days :-\

I’m really hoping for a long, cool winter this year!

Halloween Themed Big Hole Beads

Hard to believe but Halloween is right around the corner! To kick off the holiday season I made some cute Halloween themed big hole beads featuring encased murrini in fun shapes.

GHOST – big hole bead
HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR – big hole bead
WITCHIEPOO’S HAT – big hole bead
JACK O’ LANTERN – big hole bead

I also made some anytime-themed beads. Some with colorful encased murrini, some with raised dots and one with my encased stringer flowers:

LILAC BUDS – big hole bead
MALIBU PIER – big hole bead
MERMAID’S CROWN – big hole bead

Handmade Murrini Chips for Lampwork Glass Artists – COE 104

I try to make murrini as often as I can so I can use it in my own lampwork bead designs. But with each batch I always end up with much more than I will ever use myself. So I offer the extra to other lampwork glass artists 🙂

Here are a few new designs I recently made:

Antique Lilac – handmade murrini chips
Blueberry Hill – handmade murrini chips
Smoke – handmade murrini chips

For those of you who would like to make your own murrini chips, I wrote a detailed tutorial earlier this year which covers every aspect of making handmade murrini step-by-step from A to Z. Available on Etsy 😀
